Our Volunteers The Cathedral Foundation has opportunities for persons will all types of skills! Peruse our list to see what interests you. Please note: we are in particular need of Greeters. Description of opportunities: Greeters: Greeters welcome visitors to the Cathedral from around the area, across the nation and the world. Shifts are 3 hours, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., or 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. daily. A great opportunity to meet interesting people while quietly enjoying the beauty of the Cathedral. Many of our Volunteers choose to “Greet” at the Cathedral in pairs. Training will be provided. Docents: Docents provided guided tours to groups small and large, of all ages and interests. A fun way to learn interesting details about the history, features, and architecture of the Cathedral and to share our treasure with others. Tours are given throughout the week and weekend as prearranged by groups, as well as weekly on Sundays at 11:00, following 10:00 Mass. Chimes: This lively group meets four times a year for about 3 hours to prepare The Chimes for circulation over light refreshments and conversation. No special skills needed other than a quick wit and nimble fingers. Office Assistance: Volunteers in this flexible category work with Foundation staff to produce brochures , coordinate mailings, greet visitors to the museum and gallery, or compile data and statistics, among other tasks. This opportunity is tailored to the volunteer's interest and skills and can help to fulfill students' service hour requirements. Special Events: This category seeks volunteers to represent the Cathedral in welcoming visitors to and providing hospitality at special events, including musical performances, lectures, art shows and other presentations arranged through the Foundation. Basilica Books & Gifts: Shop volunteers help offer a comfortable place for visitors to explore the Catholic faith through books, music and other religious items. Volunteers must be friendly, reliable, able to accurately handle money, and be willing to learn a computerized cash register and do occasional light cleaning. A commitment of one day per week is preferred. To add your name to this
